On the DestroyerClub, a reviewer who received an advance copy of Guardian Angel had this to say:
I'll be honest, I don't know how much this book will appeal to people who aren't familiar with the series. (I finished it last night.)
That's always a problem when you're taking about a new book in a long-running series, but I think that risk is increased for one like the Destroyer. (There's so much backstory, so much history, so many jokes and references that you'll only understand if you've read at least some of the earlier books.)
I was curious and figured I'd repost that here. Many of us began reading the series after it had been established for a number of years. Did unfamiliarity with the backstory lessen the appeal?
By the way, he didn't give us any spoilers. Hopefully, he'll review the book for major newspapers when it comes out and he'll notify us when they come out. _________________ The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life. -- Teddy Roosevelt |

| Not at all, in my case. I started reading the series during the colorful cover ages. I really wish I had all my old destroyer novels and I could tell you for sure which one I started reading. I eventually had all them beginning with the first one. |
